Liz Ainslie: "Underdog Award of Distinction" Recipient 2007

Liz Ainslie, "Slices, Neutral", 2007, oil on corrugated board, 10" x 8"
Before 2007 closes, I thought it would be smart to once again bestow the "Underdog Award of Distinction" to another deserving yet under-recognized artist.
Liz Ainslie's paintings are raw as New York. Brushstrokes have no where to hide - stark colour on corrugated board brings up thoughts of last draw cards with big hopes. Ainslie wins big with a pay out of mistaken bric-a-brac simplicity pulling off a stroke of authentic modernist equipoise.
I would try to say more, however these visuals inspires a still quietude by rendering text as disposable verbiage.
